View from a Window

The reference photograph for this painting was taken on an iPhone looking through the lens of a binocular. The rock formation is the southern rear end of a local identity rock called Horse Head rock but from quite a distance and a completely different vista. Mixing cold wax with oil paint makes the medium not only stiffer but significantly matt in lustre. A finish I particularly enjoy. This mixture is then applied with a palette knife or two scrapping the paint onto board quickly but precisely. The view across the ocean is from the studio window.
