The third in the Werri Beach series depicting the abject failure of humans to control nature no matter the time or money spent to do so. Attempting to open a channel from Werri Lagoon to the ocean has been persisting since at least the 1920’s. Whether pipe or concrete channel the ocean simply took its time and filled the vessel with sand over and over again. The delicate relationships of our foredunes/ oceans/ land is dealt with appropriately by nature until human impact on the ecosystem begins to dictate ‘solutions’ be found. The extant remnants of these follies are at Werri Lagoon at the North end of Werri Beach, Gerringong NSW. The series show both the beauty of nature and the ugliness of some interventions. A continuous reminder of the delicate balance and the rights of nature.
